Disclaimer

Worth stating plainly, because the subject matter invites the opposite assumption.

This is not legal advice

Condemnation procedure, deadlines, the measure of compensation and the recovery of costs are matters of state law and they differ substantially between states. General descriptions here cannot tell you what applies to your property. If a deadline is approaching or a petition has been filed, speak to a lawyer admitted in your state.

No lawyer and client relationship

Reading this site or corresponding with it creates no professional relationship and no duty of care towards you.

This is not a valuation

Nothing here values any property, and no page on this site can tell you whether a particular offer is fair. That requires someone who has seen your property and read the appraisal.

This site is a signpost

It is deliberately short. Its purpose is to help you identify what you are dealing with and send you to a source that answers your question in depth. Where it links onwards, the destination is responsible for its own content.

Two meanings of condemnation

A building official declaring a structure unsafe is code enforcement, and no compensation is paid. Eminent domain is the acquisition of property for a public project, and compensation is required. They are unrelated processes that share a word.
